Search Acceleration Simulation Mode emissions standards

This application aims to provide emissions standards consistent with those provided by the Emissions Inspection System (EIS). However, in cases of variance, the standards applied by the EIS take precedence.

Gross polluter standards are used to identify and designate a vehicle as a gross polluter. A vehicle is deemed a gross polluter if, during an initial inspection and prior to any repairs, its emissions levels exceed the ASM 5015 and ASM 2525 gross polluter standards for HC, CO, or NO.

If test data on emission pass/fail rates or gross polluter identification rates suggest adjustments are necessary, BAR may increase or decrease emission standards by 30% or apply the following tolerances: HC = 150ppm, CO = 1.50%, NO = 350ppm. Alternatively, standards may be established for specific vehicle and engine configurations that BAR determines exhibit excessive errors of commission or omission, as required by Section 44001.5 of the Health and Safety Code.
