Biometric palm scanners are used to perform BAR-OIS and BAR-SIS inspections. They scan your palm to verify your identity before each inspection. This helps streamline the inspection process for you. It also helps prevent inspection fraud and unlicensed activity.

Each kit includes:

  • Fujitsu palm vein scanner sensor
    (Model number: FAT13FPS01 or FAT13GPS01)
  • Hand cradle

Biometric enrollment


Before you can begin performing inspections, you must complete the biometric enrollment process at a BAR field office. This allows BAR to establish your important palm data profile.

What to expect during biometric enrollment

During the enrollment process, BAR will:

The enrollment process takes about 15 minutes.

In rare situations where one or both palms cannot be scanned at the time of enrollment, BAR will make reasonable accommodations based upon specific circumstances.

What to bring with you

Be sure to bring the following items with you to the field office:

  • Your BAR-issued inspector or technician badge (if received prior to enrollment) and license number. You can print your badge and license online.

  • A proof of identification document showing your legal name and signature such as a social security card or credit card.

  • A valid, government-issued photo identification document (other than an inspector badge), such as a driver license, passport, or military identification.
