Enforcement actions
The Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) works to ensure a fair and competitive automotive repair marketplace. This includes mediating consumer complaints and investigating automotive repair industry compliance with the Automotive Repair Act and related laws and regulations.
To promote compliance, minor infractions may be addressed through education, conferences held at the business location, or office conferences. When more serious violation(s) of these laws and regulations are confirmed, BAR may issue a citation which includes an order of abatement, and, in some cases, fines up to $5,000. With multiple violations or more serious offenses, such as fraud, BAR will refer the matter to the Office of the Attorney General to file an accusation. This could result in formal discipline taken against the licensee, including revocation or suspension of their license or placing the licensee on probation.
